Russian elections: Attacks at polls; UN, EU condemn vote
The first day of voting in Russia's election saw several disruptions, including dumping dye in ballot boxes and setting fire to polling stations.
Angry Russians with no political choices beyond incumbent President Vladimir Putin acted out in frustration Friday, causing disruptions at polling stations as voting got under way across the nation.
Several incidents were reported Friday and a number of individuals were arrested.
Ballot boxes, for instance, were attacked by voters who dumped dye into them, a reference to deceased former opposition figure Alexei Navalny, who was attacked with such dye by Putin supporters in 2017.
Navalny, who died under mysterious circumstances in a Siberian penal colony in February, was one of several individuals disqualified from campaigning against Putin, who has ruled the country since 1999.
Other incidents of vandalism included two women attacking separate polling stations with Molotov cocktails, at least one incident of ballot boxes being set on fire inside a Moscow polling station and another incident in which a man was arrested for setting off fireworks inside a polling station in the Urals.
"It seems Russians have chosen their form of protest: ruining voting booths," said Tatiana Stanovaya, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, although it remains unclear whether such acts are coordinated or simply an expression of extreme individual frustration over Putin's ceaseless grip on the country.
‘Neo-Nazi Kiev regime’ tried to disrupt Russian elections – Putin
Russia’s president has vowed retaliation for the ongoing Ukrainian attacks on border regions
The continuing Ukrainian incursions into and strikes on Russia's border regions are primarily aimed at disrupting the ongoing election in the country, President Vladimir Putin has said.
The president made the remarks on Friday during a meeting with permanent members of the Russian National Security Council. Putin condemned the efforts made by Kiev to disrupt the ongoing election, vowing retaliation for the attacks.
In order to disrupt the voting process and intimidate people, at least in the regions bordering Ukraine, the Kiev neo-Nazi regime has conceived and is trying to carry out a series of “demonstrative criminal armed actions,” Putin stated.
The effort includes continuous indiscriminate drone and artillery strikes, as well as a concentrated effort to breach the country’s border, launched by Ukrainian forces earlier this week, the president explained, describing Kiev’s actions as “senseless from the military, and criminal from a humanitarian standpoint.”
Kiev launches cross-border attack into Kursk Region – governor
The escalation may also be used as a PR stunt for Kiev to show the Ukrainian public and its Western backers some military gains, Putin suggested. As for trying to intimidate the Russian people, the Ukrainian leadership will never achieve such a goal, with the country’s people responding to such actions only with “further consolidation,” he added.
“Another possible goal of such actions is to divert the attention of their own people and the public in other countries, whom the Kiev regime is trying to beg for money and all sorts of handouts, to divert attention from the real situation on the front line,” the president said.
According to Moscow’s estimates, the Ukrainian military has deployed over 2,500 servicemen, some 35 tanks and around 40 other armored vehicles to attack multiple locations along the border, Putin noted. All the attacks have been repelled, with the Ukrainians sustaining heavy personnel and material casualties.
Mercenaries from the West inside Ukraine - Stunning Numbers
The number of "mercenaries" inside Ukraine, from Western and NATO countries, is stunning. The number of them KILLED is also stunning. Details below:
The Russian Ministry of Defense continues to track and record all foreign mercenaries who have arrived in Ukraine to participate in combat actions.
►The total number of foreign mercenaries who have arrived in Ukraine is 13,387 (Since 24 February 2022.)
►Destruction of 5,962 foreign mercenaries has been confirmed to date.
The undisputed leader in terms of the number of killed fighters is Poland (2,960 arrived, 1,497 eliminated).
From Georgia, 1,042 fighters arrived, of whom 561 were eliminated.
The 1,113 'soldiers of fortune' arriving from the U.S. lost 491 killed.
More than 40% of Canadian mercenaries were eliminated (422 out of 1,005).
Of the 822 fighters arriving from the UK, 360 were eliminated.
From Romania, 784 mercenaries arrived, 349 were killed.
From Germany - 235 and 88, respectively.
France has already lost 147 militants out of 356 arrived
but denies -- at all levels -- the presence of its mercenaries on the territory of Ukraine.
Forty-four percent (44%) of all foreign mercenaries who went into Ukraine, are confirmed dead.
If one applies the same percentage to Ukrainian regular army troops, then out of the 800,000 troops that existed at the start of the conflict, it is logical to conclude that at least 352,000 are already dead.
Since Ukraine has been drafting-by-force during the entirety of the conflict, the number of Ukrainian dead is clearly far higher than 352,000.
At what point will anyone in the West come to the rational conclusion that the Ukrainians have ZERO chance of surviving continued hostilities? Because THAT is the only rational conclusion to be arrived at.
If the West decides to pursue a suicidal effort to enter Ukraine militarily, is it not clear already that Western Forces would see the same 44% of their men killed the same way Ukraine has?
Last week, it was admitted by the West that eighty percent (80%) of Ukrainian Drones have been rendered useless by Russian Electronic Warfare! 80% ! ! !
Those are Western-supplied drones. Does the West think it will have better odds if THEY are the ones launching the drones? Such a conclusion would be idiocy.
When will the West come to its senses and tell Ukraine "We've reached the end, you must sue for peace with Russia?"
As it stands now, Western armament supplies are dwindling to the point where Western nations are no longer able to defend THEIR OWN territory, because they have so depleted their supplies of Ammunition, artillery shells, and missiles.
If the West _does_ engage in Ukraine, where do they think they will get re-supplied from? Right now, the West can't make enough for the pittance of an army that Ukraine has left. How would they then supply the extra half-million NATO troops? The ammunition simply isn't there anymore and the manufacturing base simply cannot make enough to supply an ongoing war effort.
None of these facts are in dispute. So why is the carnage continuing?
Macron wants Crimea seized from Russia
No ‘lasting peace’ is possible without Ukraine gaining control of the Russian peninsula, the French president has claimed
Ukraine must regain control over all the territories it once held, including Russia’s Crimean Peninsula, French President Emmanuel Macron has said. Otherwise, no “lasting peace” will be possible, he claimed.
‘We’re not at war with Russia,’ Scholz tells Macron
Germany, France and Poland affirmed unity on Ukraine after a rift over ground troops and long-range missile supply
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced that countries that support Ukraine are not at war with Russia. The statement came as the leaders of Germany, France and Poland met in Berlin on Friday to show solidarity after their recent disagreement over military support for Kiev.
During a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the chancellor stated that the countries stand firmly behind Ukraine and that allied help would continue for “as long as it takes.”
“It is also clear that we are not at war with Russia,” Scholz added.
Well, Kiev had the opportunity to "sue for peace" but instead decided to listen to that unkempt bluster bag of Churchillian pretentiousness.
