I don't envy Canada right now. But they're part of the West and given the same terrible choices that Americans get. Poilievre would have betrayed his base just like Trump has. If we can't have an actually good party, I prefer a situation that creates the maximum amount of gridlock both within and between governments, like having a Republican president with a Democratic congress or vice versa to make it harder for the government to pass trash policies that screw the people over. Having Trump as the US president but Carney as the Canadian PM may make it harder for these two governments to cooperate on measures that are not in the public interest.
