The milion dollar question is how this 50,000 men will physically GET there. Or, will they run the gauntlete of the Iranian Navy and try a landing with a force far to small with to little logistics to hold such a place? The islands are all in range of the Iranian artillery on the mainland. Road march through Iraq past all the Pro-iranian militia?
Any US staging areas are within range of just about any stand off ordnance in the iranian inventory...
